Privacy Policy
How Doc-Genie handles your data, processes your documents, and protects your privacy.
Introduction
Doc-Genie is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Doc-Genie, you agree to the practices described here. This policy complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Digital Services Act (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz, DDG).
Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and optional display name. We record basic usage data such as which tools you use and when. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is collected and processed exclusively by Stripe - we never see or store your card details.
How We Process Your Documents
Uploaded files are processed entirely in memory. The file content is read, parsed, and sent to our processing service in a single request cycle. Once the response is generated, the temporary file data is automatically discarded. We never write uploaded files to disk, store them in a database, or retain the original file content in any form.
How We Use Your Information
We use your account information to provide the service, manage your subscription, and communicate important updates. Usage data helps us monitor service health and improve tool quality. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe handles all payment data under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance. We use Umami for privacy-friendly website analytics - it collects no personal data and uses no cookies. Document content is sent to the Anthropic API for processing, subject to Anthropic's data usage policies. We have data processing agreements (DPAs) in place with our sub-processors to ensure your data is handled in compliance with the GDPR.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only: a session cookie for authentication and a locale preference cookie. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or fingerprinting technologies.
Data Retention
Processing results (text summaries, extracted data) are stored in your account history so you can access them later. Original uploaded files are never retained. You can delete your processing history at any time from your account settings. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can export your processing history, update your account information, or request full account deletion. For users in the EU, you also have the right to data portability and the right to restrict processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe your data is being processed unlawfully.
Data Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is: Pascal Sellerberg, c/o IP-Management #9249, Ludwig-Erhard-Strasse 18, 20459 Hamburg, Germany. Email: info@doc-genie.com. For details, see our Impressum.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data on the following legal grounds: Contract fulfillment (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) -- when you create an account, use our tools, or subscribe to a plan. Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) -- for service security, abuse prevention, and service improvement. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) -- where you explicitly opt in, such as saving your processing history. You may withdraw consent at any time.
